The chief executive of Uber is going to leave the company because of current controversies.
After just six months at the helm of the ride-hailing company, Jeff Jones is departing from his status as the president of Uber. Sources familiar with the subject stated that this premature decision is closely connected to the current controversies that shrouded the company in a negative public image. As of recently, the platform had to face multiple accusations. These include sexual harassment of former and present employees and charges of sexism.
Current Controversies May Have Revealed an Ugly Face of Uber
“It is now clear, however, that the beliefs and approach to leadership that have guided my career are inconsistent with what I saw and experienced at Uber, and I can no longer continue as president of the ride-sharing business,” declared the former president.
Jeff Jones was initially hunted for the head of Uber Technologies Inc. for his expertise in dealing with sensitive public scandals. His main goal was that of putting Uber in a positive light once again. The ride services company was once considered to be a unicorn among startups. Its explosive development was applauded by the public. This was thanks to its ingenuity of building an empire as ride service without actually possessing any cars. However, the moment the company disrupted its Millennial persona that used to strike a chord with its public target, customers turned their backs on it.
A Second Executive Will Leave the Company by the End of the Month
As a consequence, the former president of Uber interrupted his professional activity. The medium at this company is no longer in alignment with his personal views of leadership. The decisive moment could have been the rumors that the company was actively looking for a new chief operating officer to work with Chief Executive Tavis Kalanick. The role of the new position was actually similar to what Jones represented in the company.
Another such announcement came on behalf of Brian McClendon, the vice president of maps and business platform. He commented the news by sharing his intention to proceed in the same way. He plans to depart from Uber by the end of the month. However, the reason behind this second departure isn’t in alignment with the original one. McClendon expressed his desire to enter the politics world. He has been persuaded by a weaker financial Kansas to ensure the prosperity of an upstanding democracy.
