
Pets can be very therapeutical when it comes to sleeping.
Most pet owners know how hard it is to convince your animal not to scurry away to bed once your plan on hitting the sack. However, there are some pet owners who enjoy going to bed with a pet. A new study reveals that cuddling with a pet in bed helps you sleep better.
The study itself was performed by a team of scientists from the Mayo Clinic. Their aim was to discover how sleeping with a pet impacts a patient’s sleeping cycle. The paper was drafted and published by the Center for Sleep Medicine wing, which is part of the prestigious hospital.
According to the published document, it would seem that, medically speaking, no objection can be raised concerning whether or not you should allow the animal to sleep beside you. Basically, it’s all up to you when it comes to permitting your house pet to jump into the sacks.
For this study, the scientists requested the help of approximately 150 people. Approximately 74 individual were pet owners. And now, let’s see what the numbers tell us. When asked about their opinion on letting the pet into bed, approximately 20 percent of the candidates answered with a straight ney, arguing that the pet has variation in its sleep pattern and is thus capable of disrupting the owner’s sleep. However, 41 percent of them said that they don’t have any issue in letting their pets into beds. Moreover, the second group reported that their pets don’t have any variation in sleep patterns.
Wrapping up the study, the team of scientists from the Mayo Clinic stated that many pet owners tend to agree with the fact that their pets might actually have a therapeutic effect when it comes to sleep. Most of them said that sleeping with a pet bring you a feeling of security and also induces a state of relaxation.
From their study, the team found out that dogs are better when it comes to sleeping with you in bed. Dogs than to be more dependent on their human masters than cats, making them perfect sleep buddies. However, dogs are known to wake up in the middle of the night at start barking if they feel dissatisfied in any way.
Concerning cats, there are many opinions out there. Some would consider that the idea of a cat sleeping beside you is out of the question, due to the fact that most cats tend to roam free at night. However, there are many cat owners who reported that cuddling with a cat has helped them overcome sleep issues.
