California Uber driver says that the GPS system was at fault.
Navigating around the city can be quite a challenge even for experienced drivers. With more and more people relying on GPS devices to find the quickest route available, things like the assistant telling you to go through a wall or make a right turn into a dead-end street are quite common. However, here’s one that’s definitely going into the books – a California Uber Driver takes his car for a ride down the stairs.
California Uber Driver Claimed He Never Had Issues with Navigation System
On Sunday, Fred, a California Uber driver, was the subject of a rather interesting incident. According to the man, at around 1:30 p.m., he had completed two rides in the San Francisco area and was on his way to pick another person.
Now, according to Fred, who refused to disclose his full name, after picking up the third passenger, he missed a right turn at some point. Naturally, Uber’s navigation system is programmed to recalculate the route, should the driver fail to follow indications.
After passing a Freeway supermarket, Fred’s Uber GPS told him to take a right turn. Unfortunately for the Uber driver, instead of going down another street, his car went down a set of stairs.
To make matters worse, Fred called a tow truck in assisting him but, the line snapped after a few pulls, causing his car to crash into a nearby trash can.
When the authorities arrived, the man told the police officers what happened and blamed his little mishap on Uber’s navigation system. Fortunately, neither Fred nor his passenger were hurt in the incident.
At this point, it’s unclear if Fred managed to complete his ride or he’s going to be fined for taking the little shortcut. According to a company’s spokesperson, the California Uber rider was working for less than a year.
