Pearl Fernandez, the 34-year-old woman who tortured her 8-year-old son to death in 2013, pleads guilty to the homicide charge. As part of her court agreement, the California woman might receive life in prison, following her confession. Fernandez’s accomplice, Isauro Aguirre, was sentenced to life in prison last year but the prosecutors might request the death penalty during his March trial.
California Mom Tortures Boy and Forces Him to Eat Cat Feces
On Thursday, 34-year-old Pearl Fernandez plead guilty of first-degree murder and other charges stemming from child torture and imprisonment. According to court documents, Fernandez and Isauro Aguirre, the woman’s live-in boyfriend orchestrated the death of 8-year-old Gabriel Fernandez, who passed away in 2013 after being tortured.
The scenery painted by the prosecutors could only be described as inhuman, for even the judge pondered on what kind of human being could do that to a child. According to the couple’s affidavit, young Gabriel Fernandez was savagely beaten by his mother and Aguirre, repeatedly shot with a BB gun, and force-fed cat feces.
Furthermore, the boy would often be forced to sleep inside a small closet, while being gagged and bound. To make the matters even worse, the investigators discovered that the child was compelled to scrape off bits of paint off the wall and eat them to survive.
While District Attorney Jonathan Hatami commented that Aguirre was mainly responsible for the boy’s inhuman treatment, he also revealed that his mother would also neglect and beat him.
According to the medical examiner’s report, the boy’s treatment was not a one-time thing, the child having been subjected to it for months at an end.
When confronted with her deed, the California mom promptly replied that Gabriel often irked her boyfriend, who believed that the boy was acting too queer.
