The Texas authorities are currently investigating a freak incident which occurred in the early hours of Sunday. According to the authorities, a man donning a bulletproof vest was fatally shot during a party. The shooter was found later at a hospital where he checked himself to receive treatment for an unknown condition.
Unclear If the Bulletproof Vest Stopped the Bullet
A Texas Sheriff’s Office spokesperson declared that on Sunday morning, at approximately 1:00 a.m., an individual dialed the emergency number and told the 911 operator that a person was heavily wounded after someone shot a gun inside the house.
Upon arriving, the authorities found a man in his 20s lying on the living room floor. Following life-saving maneuvers, the authorities declared him dead. The investigation revealed that all people inside the house were invited to a party hosted by the man who recently passed away.
According to an eyewitness, at one point during the evening, the host went to another area of the house, where he returned with a bulletproof vest and a handgun. Reportedly, the man put on the vest and gave the gun to one of the partygoers, later identified as Jason Griffin.
The host then asked Griffin to shoot him. At this point, the authorities are unsure whether the man asked Griffin to fire the weapon as part of a dare or if he wanted to prove a point.
Griffin fired the weapon, hitting the host in his chest. The preliminary report failed to reveal if the host died due to the bulletproof vest not being able to stop the bullet or if Griffin shot the host in an area not covered by the vest.
After he shot the man, Griffin fled the house and went to the local hospital to receive treatment for a medical condition. The man was later arrested and charged with unlawful possession of body armor, felon in possession of a deadly weapon, and manslaughter.
