The Berks County couple could not provide authorities with any reason why they’ve stuck the baby’s body in the plastic container.
The Berks County, law enforcement officials, have recently arrested a 27-year-old woman and 25-year-old after finding a baby’s body stuffed inside a plastic container filled with cat litter. The Berk County couple could not provide detectives with details about how the child died.
Berks County Couple Unable to Provide Toddle’s Death Certificate
On Monday night, the Berks County deputies arrested Shaun Oxenreider,25, and Samantha Trump, 27. The couple has been charged with criminal conspiracy, concealing details regarding a child’s whereabouts, and abusing a corpse.
The criminal investigation began shortly after a family relative contacted the authorities with information about the couple’s recently deceased 6-month-old infant.
According to the authorities, the concerned relative called 911 after hearing conflicting stories about the toddler’s funeral. Soon after that, the deputies contacted the Berks County Children and Youth Service and requested an update on the couple.
A representative of the Child Service spoke to Oxenreider on the phone and pressed him into relinquishing details about the toddler’s death. The authorities declared that the social services work became suspicious after she could not find any records of the couple’s baby in any hospital or funeral home.
When she asked Oxenreider to provide a death certificate, the man claimed that he and his wife were out of town.
On Monday night, a relative drove past the Berks County couple’s home only to find Oxenreider’s car parked in front. The authorities were alerted, and in a matter of minutes, they were in front of the couple’s house.
At first, the couple wouldn’t let the officers inside but later were granted access by Oxenreider after Trump had a seizure and had to be rushed to the hospital. The man agreed to have his house searched.
Upstairs, inside a locked bathroom, the officer discovered a crawlspace with something that looked like a plastic container. Inside, entirely covered by cat litter, they’ve found a plastic bag containing the body of the couple’s child.
