With the competition heating up between mobile phone producers in the second quarter, Apple brings its new addition to the table in hope of attracting more customers. Apple made sure that Siri is smarter now: she will be able to answer your calls and transcribe voicemail messages.
Yet another comfortable feature that puts Apple in the spotlight: they keep it simple and they make it more simplistic with each new addition. The new service is under preparation and is expected to be released in 2016 and the way it deals with people’s needs is very effective and ingenious.
Talking on the phone is quite comfortable right? Simple, straight to the point and fast. Writing messages takes time, focus and can pretty much distract you from your work. Now the trick is that we want to talk fast and be done with it, but when it comes to the feedback we’d much like to read it more than listen to it.
This is where Apple came in and identified the solution. People leave voicemails, but those who receive them barely want to have anything to do with them, so they just leave them there and don’t bother. But if people were to receive voicemails as messages, they’d love it. And here comes Siri!
The phone-answering is a pretty smart feature because it can just pick up the call for you and give details to certain people as to where you are and cannot answer your phone. As for the rest of the phone calls, Siri will transcribe the voicemail for you so that you can receive a message with the information.
Apple just sends voice data to servers and Siri converts the words into text. It is rumored that iCloud Voicemail will work just the same: it sends the data to Apple and Siri converts it onto your iPhone.
It seems that Apple is on its way to becoming its own mobile operator, yet this is more of a speculation than an actual fact. A lot of Apple’s decisions are indicating towards this outcome: the exclusivity of iPhones and Apple products in general, the silent launch of Apple SIM in 2014 and now the new improved Siri.
Only time will show whether this speculation is true or not but, for the time being, the company is maintaining its “simple” course of action by making Apple users’ lives less and less difficult.
